About The Singing Women of Texas

The mission of the Singing Women of Texas (SWOT) is to glorify God and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music; provide opportunities for Christian growth, mission service, inspiration, and fellowship; and encourage musical excellence with the local church. Members of SWOT are church staff members and choir members, music educators in schools and universities, and others who love to praise the Lord through singing.

The Baptist General Convention of Texas sponsors eight chapters across the state. Each chapter meets monthly to share concerts at local churches or other ministry venues. Regional chapters frequently combine music ministry with service opportunities. Often, two or more chapters will unite for a music mission trip or special concert event.

Formed by Texas Baptists in 1994, this year the Singing Women of Texas celebrates thirty years of ministry! To commemorate this landmark, all chapters will participate in a concert mission tour to Washington, D.C. in June of 2024. Our 25th anniversary celebration at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor culminated in a new collection of songs which are available as a CD or digital download.

The Singing Women of Texas combined choir has been featured at such events as the Texas Baptists Annual Meeting, the Baptist Church Music Conference, and the Alleluia! Church Music Conference. They have crossed the Texas borders to sing and share the Gospel throughout the U.S., including Colorado, New England, Tennessee, the southeastern states, and our nation’s capital.
